Holding trades overnight and over the weekend
Not allowed by default; the Swing add-on lifts the restriction and removes swap charges too.
By default, Propia accounts may not hold trades overnight or over the weekend. Only the Swing Trading + Swap-Free add-on lifts this restriction.
Holding over the weekend
All open trades must be closed before the market closes at the end of Friday. A trade held from Friday to Monday on an account without the Swing add-on is a policy breach and is handled under the internal rules.
Holding at the end of the trading day
As with the weekend, holding a trade at the end of the trading day is not allowed by default, and open trades must be closed before the market closes that same day.
The Swing Trading + Swap-Free add-on
- Hold trades over the weekend without breaching policy
- Hold trades at the end of the day without breaching policy
- Swap charges removed (swap-free)
The add-on costs 20% on top of the challenge price and is selected only when buying the challenge. Once the account is activated it cannot be added or removed.
Why does the restriction exist?
Standard Propia accounts are designed for controlled intraday trading. Holding a trade overnight or over a weekend introduces risks such as price gaps, widening spreads, slippage, thinner liquidity and the market reopening at a different price. To keep the evaluation environment clean, this is off by default.
Trading on Saturday and Sunday
At the weekend the only open market is crypto, so “weekend trading” in practice means trading crypto on Saturday and Sunday. The Swing add-on enables it; forex, metals and indices are closed on those days.
Trading at the start of the week
From the moment global markets reopen at the start of the week, trading is entirely permitted. Propia applies no extra time restriction to the opening hours, and trading at the open is not a violation.

Frequently asked questions
If I realise after buying that I need Swing, can I add it?
No. The add-on can only be enabled when buying the challenge, and once the account is activated it cannot be added or removed.
